What we’re reading online this week:
The Youth Coalition issued a second edition of their comprehensive guide to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), called “Learning to Speak MDGs”. The publication is an incredibly useful tool for young activists to understand the MDGs in a broad development framework, and also for individuals and organizations who work within the MDG context to incorporate a youth perspective.
IWHC Partner Dean Peacock and his organization Sonke Gender Justice Network were featured in an article on men’s involvement in the battle against HIV/AIDS in South Africa.
Laura Castleman of Ipas highlighted the importance of discussing acess to safe abortion in an international context in an article on RHRealityCheck.
And this week, right here on Akimbo:
Denise Hirao wrote about the uproar in Honduras over emergency contraception.
Durex Network Vice President Peter Roach wrote about an event that explored explored two central themes – the multi-dimensional nature of HIV/AIDS and the positive side of the battle against the pandemic, and reignited his commitment to affording everyone equal chances when it comes to sexual health.
Khushbu Srivastava used stories from her travels to illustrate the vital importance of holding governments accountable for ensuring safe childbirth.
And, last but not least, Kelly Castagnaro highlighted the “One Day, One Struggle” campaign’s work promoting human rights across Muslim societies.
