Peru Gets Its First Abortion Info Hotline

in Latin America and the Carribean

Latin American women struggle not just for access to safe abortion, but also access to medically accurate information, resources, correct guidance about local laws, and information about clinic access. Línea de Aborto: Información Segura aims to change that with their new abortion information hotline, based in Lima. In Peru, abortion is only permitted to save the life of the woman. However, like in many countries where access to abortion is legally restricted, many women obtain unsafe abortions that are high risk.

Women on Waves has more information, or if you read Spanish you should check out the hotline project’s website.
