The International Partnership for Microbicides has started a test of a vaginal ring designed to slow-release microbicides designed to kill HIV. 280 women have been recruited to test the ring in South Africa, studies in three other southern African countries will be launched soon.

Former Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin has spoken up in support of adding access to safe abortion in the Harper government’s signature G8 maternal health initiative.
